Vandaag nog niet. Bezorger wou al naar de keuken lopen maar ik laat de boodschappen standaard in de hal zetten omdat een groot deel toch naar de berging gaat.

Dat is duidelijk. Fijn dat je er direct bij vertelt dat het tot nu toe niet klopt. Het leek me daarom zinvol om hier de activiteiten van een stel echte data scientists te melden. Dan kunnen we straks vergelijken.
IIk vind dat gegoochel met cijfers ook best leuk maar als ik zelfs bij benadering niet weet of het ergens op slaat wat ik in elkaar draai, vind ik het onzinnig om het te doen. Je kunt er dan niets uit afleiden en je kunt de uitkomsten al helemaal niet gebruiken om draconische maatregelen te bepleiten. Dat is dan een slag in de lucht. Daar kun je geen beleid op maken. Als wetenschappers zeggen dat ze het niet kunnen, maak ik me over mijn eigen superkrachten geen illusies.
Ik vind Italiaanse toestanden al erg genoeg. Een Apocalyps zit vooralsnog niet in het vat.

Geldt dat ook voor de pakketbezorgers? Voor verplegend personeel? Voor personeel bij telecombedrijven of internetproviders? Vast niet want die moeten jou ook voorzien van van alles.
Beste is om zo deze periode sociale contacten (grootschalige) te verminderen. Dat gebeurt ook al op veel fronten, in mijn werk wordt ene na andere congres gecanceld, geen werkafspraken in Brabant, Erasmus uni geeft vanaf vrijdag geen colleges/examens aan groepen meer dan 30 personen etc
Dat is prima wat mij betreft, maar echt wat anders dan dat iedere Nederlander nu de komende weken zich in zijn huis opsluit met 200 blikken erwtensoep

200 doden in Italië vandaag, uit mijn hoofd bijna een verdubbeling in 2 dagen. Ik heb al lang geleden voorspeld dat de doden hard zouden oplopen als de ziekenhuizen overbelast worden.
Gezien de vertraging verwacht ik dat dat misschien wel 4 weken flink doorstijgt.

Some of cases are indeed outside of what expected. In addition to ARDS, have seen “crazy paving” pattern on CT, lobar pneumonia, and diarrhea as presenting complaint (with fever and respiratory symptoms though)

Yes great point, Hilary. Perhaps these kids would have remained asymptomatic if they didn't have RSV/flu/mycoplasma/etc. I am beginning to think more and more that kids are the primary fuel to this fire as seen in China & Italy. We need to test more kids to understand epidemic!

Die conclusie is te vroeg, de effecten van de lock-down van noord Italie kun je pas zien na een week of 2 en dan vooral in het aantal besmettingen, je weet niet hoe ziek de overledenen waren en wanneer ze besmet zijn geraakt en hoe lang hun ziekbed heeft geduurd.

Daarnaast heeft Italie die lockdown in stadia ingevoerd, dus het is best mogelijk dat er toch al enig effect is (zonder was het wellicht nog erger). De vervelendste statistiek is het hard oplopende dodencijfer. Ik verwacht dat daar een vertraging van misschien wel 4 weken inzit voordat dat terug gaat lopen.Het zal de komende weken heel onaangenaam worden in Italie en als het zo doorgaat ook in Nederland.
Gelukkig merk ik wel dat steeds meer mensen beginnen te protesteren tegen de halfzachte maatregelen nu ze zien hoe het uitpakt in Italie en nu Italiaanse artsen (bless their hearts) ons letterlijk oproepen om direct op social distancing in te zetten.

Mijn man landde gisteren op schiphol. Er is geen enkele corona controle op schiphol. Helemaal niks.

Doe nou niet net of je dom bent. De effecten van de lockdown op de sterftecijfers zijn natuurlojk pas over 3-5 weken merkbaar! Incubatietijd + tijd om ern ernstige longontsteking te ontwikkelen + tijd om te sterven = 3 tot 5 weken, soms zelfs langer.
Verder hoef je artikelen en citaten niet te lezen als je het Engels niet goed genoeg beheerst, maar stop dan ook uitspraken over de inhoud ervan te doen.

Geen controles op Schiphol?
Dat is best vreemd.
In Latijns Amerika met veel minder bevestigde besmettingen wordt op vliegvelden temperatuur gemeten en moeten reizigers een formulier met vragen invullen over hoe ze zich lichamelijk voelen en waar ze allemaal zijn geweest.

Op mijn werk ook. Italiaanse collega's luiden de noodklok: beter zeer (zelfs te) strenge maatregelen nu, dan dat we straks in de situatie zitten die daar nu heerst: de ziekenhuizen zijn zo overvol dat 70+ers en nu dus ook al 60+ers met longontsteking geen beademing krijgen en dus onherroepelijk doodgaan (hoeveelheid beademingsapparatuur is beperkt en jongere mensen met meer overlevingskansen gaan voor). Dat vertellen zij en het artikel van Mirreke (#228) bevestigt dat.
Kijk even om je heen, wie is 60+ in je omgeving? Wil je nu een aantal weken ongemak verdragen om hun te helpen overleven wanneer zij het virus krijgen? Of denk je dat het wel losloopt en accepteer je het risico dat de ziekenhuizen straks zo vol liggen dat ook jij als je longontsteking of andere comllicaties krijgt, niet meer geholpen kunt worden?

Over hoe het er momenteel in zijn regio en Italië aan toe gaat.
Ik zat gisteren op school
te surveilleren bij een toets en het gevoel bekroop me wel dat we heel erg hutje mutje op elkaar zitten. Oud gebouw, kleinere klaslokalen, slechte ventilatie. Het lokaal waar ik gisteren aan het werk was is ongeveer 50m2 met 30 pubers en 2 docenten (ik en de stagiaire). Je kan doen wat je wil om werkelijk contact te beperken, maar afstand tot andere mensen heb je niet. En wat doe je met opdrachten waar je samen moet werken?
Kortom: ik blijf werken maar ik voel me er niet 100% prettig bij. Ik weet ook niet wat een betere oplossing zou zijn.
